PAROW

Penwith Access and Rights of Way – this is a local community based organisation working with a wide range of partners including the West Cornwall Local Action Group and Cornwall Council to improve access to the countryside for both local people and visitors, with a particular interest in access to Penwith’s diverse collection of Ancient and Historic Sites. It also aims to help encourage tourism for the benefit of local businesses and to offer people the opportunity to carry out practical conservation tasks.

Walks Around

Nine Maidens

Moor

These are a series of ‘out and back’ walks that branch off a central route of approximately a mile. Therefore the walker has the option of doing any combination of walks from 2 to over 10 miles, and over varying terrain.

The Nine Maidens

Directions:

There isn't a public bus service to the start of the walks. Therefore from the Penzance by-pass take the road signposted to Madron. Continue beyond the village for just over two miles and at the crest of the hill on the right hand side is Lanyon Quoit. Probably the best known Neolithic site in the west of Cornwall, but it is not in its original configuration because it had to be rebuilt in the 1820’s. Continue north for a further mile and, as the road starts to climb, there is a pull-in area on the right. Be sure your car is secure before setting off for the walk.
